Botany

We are constantly amazed by and commenting on the fruit trees and other interesting plants. We have seen and tasted a number of exotic tropical fruit, including milk-apple (a round shiny ball with a sticky inside goop that stuck to Wink’s lips!), dragon fruit (shaped like a fish with bright fuschia skin and green “fins, and inside is a white flesh with lots of small poppy-seed-like seeds); "long an" (a round eyeball-sized fruit with a tan rind that you peel to find a fruit that in fact looks like an eyeball), which has a large pit that is coated with the edible part, with the texture of a grape. Quite tasty, though a low reward for the effort. And passion fruit—possibly the group’s favorite—with its small flat seeds in a bright orange-yellow pulp. Here are some photos of the plants and foods, including banana and manioc, water coconut, jackfruit, chilis and rice.
